Hello Everyone!

I wanted to give you all a heads up on the email that will be going out tomorrow to all of our customers who purchased any of the Vader Helmets.

With regards to the Shock Troop and Clone Trooper helmets, if you have any problems with them please contact [email protected] and we will handle it for you.

The Special Ops is a more complicated issue because it has to do with plaques. We are working with our vendor and licensor and should have a solution within the next day or two. We will be getting back to you all on this shortly. We appreciate your patience.

We are very sorry to everyone who has experienced problems with the helmets. We understand how dissapointing this is to all of our customers and it is very disapointing to us as well. While we can't change anything that has happened, we can remedy the problems for you and that is what we intend to do.

The following is the email that will be going out tomorrow:

Dear Master Replicas Customer:

This letter is to provide an update to all of our customers who have ordered a Darth Vader helmet.

As you may know, Master Replicas is facing some quality issues with all editions of the Darth Vader Episode III Helmets. All shipments of the helmets have been placed on hold until these issues are resolved. This includes the Limited, Signature and Dual Signature Editions.

First, we would like to apologize for this inconvenience. We know how long many of you have been anticipating the release of this iconic prop replica. Rest assured that Master Replicas is committed to doing our best to satisfy all of our customers needs and will do whatever is necessary to rectify this problem.

Some customers may have received helmets with a small scuff mark on the top of the dome. We have thoroughly analyzed this problem and have determined that this can occur during shipping. Therefore, in order to accommodate everyone most efficiently, we are contacting everyone who has purchased a Darth Vader helmet to alert them of this potential issue.

We will be performing a 100% quality inspection of the existing stock in our warehouse. Only helmets that meet our high quality standards will be accepted and repacked properly to avoid potential damage during shipping. These will then be used as replacements for any defective helmets returned for replacement. We estimate that this inspection will take three weeks to complete, and expect to resume shipping shortly thereafter.

Additionally we have discovered that the embroidery on one of the storage bags can also scuff the helmet. This component will also be replaced for all customers.

Since the damage occurred after our inspection in the factory, there is no way to determine how many helmets were actually damaged in shipping. However, we anticipate that the inventory of quality products will accommodate all replacement requests. We will have final confirmation of the replacement inventory once our inspection is completed.

For those customers who have not yet received their helmets, please understand that all replacement requests must be processed first. We apologize for delaying your shipment further, but we are making every effort to ensure you receive the highest quality collectible possible. We will let you know in the next few weeks when helmet shipments will resume.

This replacement program is completely voluntary. However, if you are not satisfied with your helmet for any reason, Master Replicas will be delighted to provide you with a replacement or a full refund.

If you did not purchase your helmet from Master Replicas or an Authorized Retailer, we will still REPLACE your damaged helmet. We apologize that we are not able to refund your money.

If you would like a replacement for your helmet:

1. Please email [email protected] no later than Friday, February 24, 2006 to request a Replacement Authorization number. We will also provide you with complete instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label to return your helmet. Please note that we will require all of the original packaging with all of the original packing materials.

If you would like to return your helmet for a refund:

1. If you purchased your helmet directly from Master Replicas please email [email protected] no later than Friday, February 24, 2006 to request a Refund Authorization number. We will provide you with complete instructions and a pre-paid return shipping label to return your helmet. Please note that we will require all of the original packaging with all of the original packing materials. Upon receipt of your helmet, we will credit your account for the total amount charged, including shipping. This will take approximately 7-10 business days after receipt of the defective helmet.

2. If you purchased your Darth Vader Helmet from one of our Authorized Retailers, please contact them to arrange for a refund.

Once again we apologize for this inconvenience, Master Replicas will do everything in our power to remedy the situation to your satisfaction in a timely manner.

We wanted to let our customers see the letter we're sending to retailers. Consumers that have the Special Ops helmet need to get in touch with their retailer if you would like a refund. If you received a plaque (not just a sticker on the box) and would like to have your number recorded with us, you can e-mail [email protected]. Please let us know who you purchased it from. Dear Authorized Retailers and Distributor Partners, Last week, we shared with you our concern that some of the Special Ops Helmets may have shipped from the factory without the certificate of authenticity and plaque. We appreciate your responsiveness and diligence in checking each of your shipments for these items. Based on the information you provided, along with the inspections conducted at our warehouse, we have confirmed that a number of Special Ops Helmets are indeed missing their plaques and certificate of authenticity. In light of this finding we regret that we are unable to provide individually numbered plaques for the Special Ops Helmets. Master Replicas CANNOT reprint the missing numbered plaques, as it would compromise the integrity of this limited edition item. Additionally, we believe that the investment value of our products is of utmost importance and must be protected. In place of individually numbered plaques, we will issue a total edition size plaque that will show the total edition size of 750. The plaque will also feature the Authorized Retailer logo to distinguish it as an Authorized Retailer exclusive. This will ensure that each Special Ops Helmet has a collectible plaque, without compromising the value of the item. We will provide you with these replacement plaques as soon as they are available so that you can distribute them to your customers. We anticipate that these plaques will be ready in approximately two months, but we are working on expediting this process to make them available to you sooner. We understand that this resolution represents a significant departure from our normal Limited Edition products. However, based upon the options that are available to us, we believe that this is the only way to still deliver a quality product to your customers, while protecting the value of this highly sought after item. In order for us to better understand this issue, we request that you contact [email protected] and record your plaque number with us. Additionally, Master Replicas will be inserting the total edition size plaque into all Special Ops Helmets in inventory and all future shipments. We will suspend shipments until they can be inspected and replacement plaques have been inserted. Heel lang heb ik niks van MR gehoord, maar als ze een keer praten, dan blijven ze praten...

Hello Everyone!

I see that there are still lots of questions. Hopefully this will address any further questions or concerns you might have.

Here is a summary of MR's resolution to this issue with the Special Ops Helmets. We know that there is no "perfect" solution, so there will be some who will accept this plan and there will be those who will not. Unfortunately, no matter what plan we determine to be the most sound, we will never please 100% of the people and we apolgize for this.

We understand that there are 2 issues, the plaque and then some QC issues with the painting, glue on the lense, etc.

1. 100% of the remaining helmets that are in our warehouse will be opened and inspected per our QC Spec. This includes the collateral envelope with the plaque and the QC issues with the painting, glue, etc. Any helmet that is determined to not meet our specifications will either be returned to the factory to be fixed or it will be destroyed. The total number of helmets must remain at 750 pieces.

2. The new plaque will not be indvidually numbered, it will say "Limited Edition of 750", or something similar to that.

3. If the helmet has the original numbered plaque, IT WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED with the new plaque. As you can see on e-bay, there is a perceived value to this original plaque. If we were to keep them included, there will be more out there and it would now make it more unfair to more people. When we issue a statement that states the "official" plaque is the new one, that may make them all the more valuable to some people. Currently, there are X number of people who have these original plaques. I say "X" because we do not know the exact number. And that is the maximum it will ever be. So, if you received a plaque, just consider yourselves one of the lucky ones, unless you want to send it back, which is really what we are requesting. But, obviously, that is strictly voluntary, since we cannot force you to send anything back.

4. It appears that people who are missing their plaque is actually missing the entire collateral envelope, which not only included the plaque, but the Certificate of Authenticty, Prop Story, Warranty information, etc. We will replace the entire envelope and its contents.

5. To address the reissuing of number plaques one last time. . .
a) We cannot reprint any nuumbered plaques since we do not know how many are actually missing and more importantly, we do not know which numbers are missing.
 There are duplicate LABELS not duplicate plaques. This makes it impossible to determine who gets what numbered plaque.
c) In order to reprint the plaques with numbers we would have to track down every helmet out there. This would be impossible since, as many of you know, some helmets have changed hands several times already. And some may have been purchased by "walk ins" at an Authorized Retailer. Not everyone comes to these forums (Rebelscum, RPF, Sir Steve, etc) or even our website, so there would be no way to communicate with everyone. Just 1 duplicate plaque will not only compromise the value of your helmet, but it would also be a violation of our license with Lucasfilm.

6. We cannot place numbers in the helmet because if we were to get any requests for replacements, there would be no way to replace that helmet with the same number. We can only make 1 helmet with each unique number. So if there was a problem with your helmet, it would be impossible to replace it with the same number.

7. Everyone who has a helmet can get the new collateral envelope with the new plaque, prop story, Certificate of Authenticity, and product brochure. (The sales brochure was included with the original product, so please do not think that we are taking "advantage" of this situation by sending you advertising. Most people would want everything that was originally included!) This program even includes those who did not purchase their helmet from an Authorized Retailer, like e-bay, etc. The new collateral envelope and plaque will be available through your Authorized Retailer or through Master Replicas. Amy will inform you of this procedure once it is set up.
We our trying our best to expedite the printing of the new plaques and collateral. We will let everyone know the schedule to complete this program as soon as we can. Unfortunately, it is still the Chinese New Years holiday in Asia, so we have not been able to fully implement this program yet.

8. When we say the product is "oversold" that means that the orders for the helmets exceeds the edition size, in this case 750. So there is a "wait list" for cancellations from our Authorized Retailers.

9. If the above resolution is not satisfactory to you, please return your helmet to your Authorized Retailer for a full refund of your helmet INCLUDING shipping. We have instructed our Authorized Retailer to accept returns and issue refunds with no questions asked, and please accept our apology with our assurance that are doing everything in our power to prevent this from happening again.

10. If you did not purchase your helmet from an Authorized Retailer, unfortunately, for obvious reasons, we cannot refund your money, you will have to go back to the person/store that you purchased it from. However, as stated above, we will still supply you with the new collateral envelope and we will honor the warranty for any defects that you may have with your helmet.

We are now working with our internal QC department in Asia and the factories to determine how this happened. New systems and procdures will be implemented immediately to prevent this from happening again.

Once again, we apologize for this inconvenience.

Amy and I will not be answering or addressing any further questions that we feel has been answered before. However, please feel free to post any comments that you may still have, if you feel the need to. This is an open forum, and that is what we want it to remain to be.

However, we will still be reading your posts and if some one comes up with a relevant issue in regards to this helmet that has not been raised before, Amy and I will be glad to respond.

Three weeks ago today, we informed you of the decision to place the shipment of all Darth Vader Episode III Helmet editions , including Limited, Signature and Dual Signature, on hold while we inspected the product and determined the best solution to prevent damages during shipment.

We would like to share with you our findings and our plan moving forward.

Our expectation was to have adequate inventory of quality helmets for replacements after our inspection. As part of the inspection process, we also added a number of additional quality assurance measures to ensure that you, our customer, would be satisfied with this product for many years to come and be proud to display it as the centerpiece of your collection

Unfortunately, we found two issues in performing the inspection. First, more than the expected number was damaged in the shipping process. Second, most of the helmets have the potential for future damage due to the design of the magnetic stabilizing system.

We feel that with the combination of these issues, the helmets fall below the standard of quality that Masters Replicas requires and our consumers deserve. We have made the decision to return the entire production back to the manufacturer and make the necessary improvements. Unfortunately, this will further delay the availability of the Darth Vader Helmets. We have explored various alternatives that may have allowed us to return the product to market faster, but we have chosen this more conservative course of action as it will ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.

As of today, three shipments are in transit from the US back to the manufacturer. Once the shipments arrive, we will jointly develop a timeline with our manufacturer. We will share information with you through regular �Darth Vader Update Emails�.

We are offering a replacement program that is completely voluntary. If you are not satisfied with your helmet for any reason, Master Replicas will be delighted to provide you with a replacement or a full refund. Should you choose to replace your helmet please contact us by March 10th to ensure that we have enough replacement inventory.

If you did not purchase your helmet from Master Replicas or an Authorized Retailer, we will still REPLACE your damaged helmet. We apologize that we are not able to refund your money.

If you would like a replacement for your helmet regardless of where you purchased your helmet from:

1. Please email [email protected] no later than Friday, March 10, 2006 to request a Replacement Authorization number. Dear Master Replicas Customer: We would like to provide you with an update on the following Star Wars and Disney Helmets:

• Shock Troop Helmet • Clonetrooper Helmet • Special Ops Helmet • Rocketeer Helmet. As you may know, Master Replicas placed all helmets on shipping hold in order to fully inspect them for potential quality issues reported on some units. After discussing the situation with our manufacturing partner, we agreed on an unbiased evaluation of the products by an independent, third party testing agency.

Next week, each helmet will be carefully inspected to ensure that only units meeting Master Replicas’ quality standards will be approved to be shipped out to our customers.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Master Replicas is dedicated to providing quality products that we are proud to stand behind. We will be providing you with an update in a few weeks based on the results of the inspection and the next steps.

...en weer een (nietszeggende) update van MR...

Dear Master Replicas Customer,

As a follow up to our e-mail a couple of weeks ago, we would like to provide you with an update on the Shock Troop, Special Ops and Clonetrooper Helmets.

As stated in our last update, we had an independent third party agency inspect all of these Helmets in our warehouse the week of March 13th. Unfortunately most of most of these Helmets did not pass our strict guidelines for the inspection. Based on these results, we are going to be working with our vendors to determine the best way to remedy the problem. We should know more in a few weeks and will send you another update with the latest information by April 20th.

We sincerely apologize for the delay in shipping these Helmets. We will have an update for you in a few weeks.

Bij MR zijn ze nu het spoor helemaal kwijt.
Vandaag kreeg ik via DHL een pakketje van MR met daarin een .45 Darth Vader lightsaber en een briefje met excuses,
omdat ik zo lang moet wachten op de door mij bestelde Shocktrooper helm......
Netjes zou je zeggen, attent! Ja, best wel.
Maar nu wil het geval dat ik nog helemaal geen Shocktrooper in bestelling heb staan bij MR.
Sterker nog; ik heb helemaal GEEN ENKELE bestelling uitstaan bij MR.
Ik sta nog steeds op de wachtlijst om mogelijk te kunnen gaan bestellen...
Da's heel wat anders!

Deze administratieve dwaling levert me weliswaar een gratis sabertje op, maar het blijft natuurlijk een lachertje.

As you know, the helmets were placed on shipping hold in order to be fully inspected by an independent third party for potential quality issues. Based on our inspection results, we regret to inform you that the units did not pass inspection.

To ensure that we only deliver high quality products to our customers, we have decided that our remaining inventory of Special Ops, Shock Troop, and Clone Trooper helmets are not sellable. Because of their condition, we will be making all new units. As you can imagine, this will extend the timeline in delivering your helmet. We are extremely committed to quality and we are willing to make this significant commitment to ensure that our customers receive a product that we can all be proud of.

We currently do not have a production schedule yet, but hope to have both the initial ship dates and completion dates by helmet in our next update to you. Based on our current projections, we believe that we will be able to begin shipping the helmets Late Summer (August/September). We sincerely apologize for this extended delay in shipping the helmets to you. Master Replicas remains committed to delivering high quality products and we believe that this is the right thing to do.

If you have received a helmet, we recommend that you contact us for a replacement. Please e-mail us at [email protected] by May 5, 2006 to arrange for a replacement.

We would like to provide you with an update on the Special Ops, Shock Trooper and Clone Trooper Helmets.

As most of you know, we discovered that some of the Special Ops Helmets were shipped without plaques. Master Replicas, in agreement with Lucas Licensing, concluded that the only solution that would not compromise the integrity of the Limited Edition was to replace the numbered plaques with a new plaque that would only identify the total edition size to prevent any possible duplication of numbers.

We have now discovered that all of the plaques for the Shock Trooper and Clone Trooper helmets cannot be accounted for either. Therefore, once again, Master Replicas and Lucasfilm have concluded that the only solution is to issue a new plaque that only identifies the total edition size for these helmets.

The new plaques will be printed with the following total editions sizes:


Special Ops Helmets: Total Edition Size: 750

Shock Troop Helmets: Total Edition Size: 750

Clone Trooper Helmets: Total Edition Size: 2500


We have listened and understand all of your concerns in regards to the importance of a numbered plaque. Unfortunately, we cannot risk the possibility that a number might be duplicated which would compromise the value of your prop.

We have also received the latest update on the shipping schedule for the helmets that we would like to share with you:

Replacement units available to ship: Beginning in August

Outstanding orders available to ship: Beginning in Late August

MR Darth Vader RotS Update:

Dear Master Replicas Customer,

We wanted to give you a brief overview of the Darth Vader Helmet Upgrade procedure that we have initiated, which will hopefully answer many of your questions about this program.

We have returned all of the helmets back to the manufacturer in Asia. This includes both the ones that we had in stock and the ones that were returned by consumers. The first step was to evaluate each helmet and determine which ones could be used to make a helmet that meets our quality standards. Only these helmets were to be used in the upgrade process.

The helmets that passed the quality standard guidelines were completely stripped of all of the lenses, internal padding, straps, etc. The helmets were then repaired, repainted and polished.

Next the helmets were reassembled with all new components. Also, some of the parts have been re-designed and re-engineered to improve the product.

Other improvements incorporated in the remaking of the helmets include:

§ The display stand has been redesigned to be more structurally stable. Each helmet will come with this new stand.

§ We have redesigned the fleece bags and most importantly, we have removed the embroidery from the bags which could scratch some the helmets. Most of you may remember, this was the initial issue.

§ A third party inspection company has been witnessing the destruction of the unusable helmet components.

We have read all of the concerns and issues communicated to us through e-mails, telephone and the forums so hopefully this update has addressed them all. Please rest assured that we have implemented a very strict quality control process that checks every detail to ensure that each helmet will meet our high-quality standards. If for any reason you are not satisfied with our product or it does not meet your expectations, you can return it for a full refund as you can with all Master Replicas’ products.

The shipping schedules have not changed since the last update. We will send you another update in August.
